A Galaxy Far, Far Away Brought to Life

For the world premiere of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Ryot Studios collaborated with ILM, Lucasfilm, Disney, and Verizon to create an unforgettable activation that pushed the boundaries of innovation. At the heart of this experience was the design and fabrication of the iconic Star Wars Air Lock chamber—a stunning installation that merged cutting-edge technology with the rich storytelling legacy of the Star Wars universe.

The chamber housed an LED screen that featured stormtroopers in real time, but the true magic lay in the technology powering the experience. Using Verizon's groundbreaking 5G network, motion capture technology transported stormtroopers live from a studio in Marina Del Rey to the premiere in Hollywood. Guests stepping into the chamber were immersed in a seamless, real-time interaction that blurred the lines between physical and digital worlds.

This activation was more than just an impressive display of technical prowess—it was a celebration of collaboration and creative ambition. By bringing together the expertise of ILM, Lucasfilm, Disney, and Ryot Studios, the event showcased the potential of innovation in storytelling. The result was an unforgettable experience that left attendees in awe, demonstrating how the Star Wars universe continues to inspire new generations through technology and imagination.
